Two Top-10, intra-conference matchups, highlight this week’s College Football Saturday Picks. Can Josh Dobbs and the Vols take care of the ball vs Tim Williams and Bama? Can a stingy Badgers D slow down J.T. Barrett and the Buckeyes?

Sports & Swag’s College Football Saturday Picks are here for a slate of games that has the nation’s top two teams on the road for tough conference battles. Number 1 Alabama goes to Knoxville to face number 9 Tennessee, and number two 2 Ohio State faces number 8 Wisconsin at Camp Randall.

Should be another Spectacular College Football Saturday.

Now, onto the picks!
GAME OF THE WEEK

1 ALABAMA (-13.5) at 9 TENNESSEE

For those of you that don’t know, ‘The Third Saturday in October’ used to mean a LOT. Alabama vs Tennessee was always a huge Rivalry game for decades. The Tide and Vols are one and two, respectively, in all-time SEC wins. In the eyes of some Bama fans, especially before the Iron Bowl was played for the first time out of Birmingham and at Auburn in 1989, the Vols Rivalry was more important than the Auburn Rivalry.

As of late, the game hasn’t had that kind of sizzle. Bama has won nine straight in the series. This nine game Bama streak comes after the Vols did Bama the same way from the mid 90’s to the mid 2000’s. That run was started by Peyton Manning, and before Nick Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa.

Most of the players playing on each side today really don’t know how big this game really was. That’s because they weren’t here. They do know, however, that THIS game today is huge in every way.

As for the game itself, it will probably come down to a couple of things. First, can Tennessee protect the ball, and while they’re at it, protect Josh Dobbs. Doing both will be critical. Tennessee turned the ball over seven times in last week’s loss at Texas A&M. The Vols have to do much better than that. Bama’s defense turns opponents’ turnovers into touchdowns. It’s now, eight straight games that Bama has scored a non-offensive TD.

Even if Tennessee takes care of the ball, they’re a beat up team with injuries on both sides of the ball. Also, can they stop Jalen Hurts and a good Bama offense? Aggies’QB Trevor Knight, rushed for 110 yards last week. Hurts, is capable of those type numbers also.

The Vols nearly pulled the upset last year in Tuscaloosa. So, the Vols should be confident. This game shapes up a little different, however. Bama was the worn out team in last season’s game. Tennessee was fresher and coming off a bye week. Roles are reversed somewhat this time around. Bama’s fresher and still a bit more talented overall. Take The TIDE to pull away late and cover the 13.5….  BAMA 44-27

2 OHIO STATE (-11.0) at 8 WISCONSIN

The Badgers are clearly one of college football’s big surprises of 2016. They were very impressive in huge wins over LSU and Michigan State. Since then, however, Les Miles has been fired and Sparty has yet to win another game. So, those wins just don’t look as impressive as they once did. The close loss to Michigan is just as impressive as those two wins. Badgers head coach Paul Chryst, needs to find a way to slow the game down and keep J.T. Barrett and the Buckeyes offense on the sideline.

Ohio State, is coming off a so-so performance against a decent Indiana team. The Hoosiers were able to hang in make the Buckeyes sweat a little. Ohio State probably needed that coming into a game of this magnitude. It’s the only time anyone has challenged them at all this season, including Oklahoma. As for this game, the Buckeyes just have too much talent. The Badgers will fight as they always do, but Take the BUCKEYES to cover the 11 points……BUCKEYES 34-17

ROAD DOG OF THE WEEK

NORTH CAROLINA (+6.0) at MIAMI

The Tar Heels were dismantled just a week ago at home, in the rain by Virginia Tech. That was a week after the Heels stunned Florida State in Tallahassee. Larry Fedora’s ventures back to the Sunshine State again. This time, it’s Miami. The Hurricanes lost a heartbreker last week to FSU. Which team turns it around quicker and forgets last week should have a huge advantage.

To me, it’s a lot easier to recover from a blowout loss, as opposed to a one-point loss like Miami suffered. Plus, the Heels have proven to be better than last week’s score would indicate. Miami, not so much. Take the HEELS. Not only to cover 6 points….. but STRAIGHT UP over The U.
In other games….

Take 14 OLE MISS (-7.5) at Arkansas….. Should be a high-scoring game, but the Rebels have too much firepower for the Hogs.

Take OKLAHOMA (-13.5) vs Kansas State….. Pressure is off in Norman. Look for the Sooners to go on a run to end the season.

Take WEST VIRGINIA (-2.5) at Texas Tech….. In a classic team that has the ball last game, Mountaineers come up with one more stop to beat the Red Raiders.
